Why Liberty? Because for over 50 years and three generations, one family has poured everything into building the finest motorcoaches on the road. Every coach carries their name, and every detail—from the cabinetry to the craftsmanship behind the walls—reflects a relentless pursuit of perfection that only a family-owned converter can sustain.

Since 1968, the Konigseder family has been leading the luxury motorcoach field in every area—from cutting-edge technology to trendsetting design, unmatched craftsmanship to unparalleled service. As the longest continuously operating Prevost converter, with over 900 completed conversions, Liberty Coach has set the standards of excellence for every aspect of the business. If you've been in the lifestyle long enough, you've probably met a Liberty owner. They tend to be loyal.

Beginnings

In 1972, Frank Konigseder Sr. and his wife Jeanne—avid campers dissatisfied with production motorhomes—bought a used Greyhound bus and began converting it in the side yard of their home near Libertyville, Illinois. They put the finishing touches on Liberty Coach #1 that fall, with their sons Frank Jr. and Kurt just 6 and 4 years old. The company took its name from their hometown, and a family business was born.

Frank already understood manufacturing. His German immigrant grandfather had established F.K. Pattern & Foundry in North Chicago in 1937, and among their contracts was supplying aluminum castings to Greyhound Bus Company. That industrial DNA—precision, durability, knowing how things go together—ran through everything Liberty would build.

The early coaches were straightforward by today's standards, but they established something important: a family-owned operation focused on quality over volume. When the industry consolidated and larger corporate operations emerged, Liberty remained family owned and operated. It still is today.

Interior Features

Step into an Elegant Lady and you'll encounter what the company calls the "Liberty Look"—a signature aesthetic built on waterfall edge countertops, custom cabinetry, designer flooring, and furniture that wouldn't look out of place in a high-end residence. Hard surfaces with visible grain, finished to reveal rather than obscure the material. Brass or brushed nickel hardware selected to complement rather than dominate. If you appreciate what a Craftsman home represents, you'll understand what Liberty is doing.

Living spaces are configured for how people actually live. Salon offerings include breakfast bar, L-shaped dinette, and traditional booth-style dining configurations, custom recliners and sleeper sofas, and galleys that are fully equipped without being overwrought. Audio and video throughout runs through audiophile-quality KEF speakers—the kind of brand choice that tells you who's making the decisions. Storage is generous and accessible because someone thought about where you'll actually put things.

Liberty's master suite feels like a bedroom, not a compromise, with king-size beds and wardrobe space that can handle a real wardrobe. A choice of split bath and bath-and-a-half layouts are offered, both with a mid-coach powder room and oversized shower at the rear. Tiled backsplashes, designer vanities, and wood or marble flooring elevate what could be an afterthought into a properly appointed space—something that feels permanent rather than provisional.

Exterior Features

Since 2012, every Liberty Coach exterior has been finished by legendary automotive artist Dean Loucks, whose world-renowned paint studio produces work that elevates the coach from vehicle to statement. In 2015, Loucks raised the bar further with the introduction of his Artist Series—original one-of-a-kind paint schemes that favor sophisticated combinations applied with precision techniques that reward close inspection.

But there's more to see beyond the paint, much more. Panel gaps that align perfectly and compartment doors that seal tightly. Storage bays as beautiful as they are functional, with custom hardware—manufactured in-house—that's rock-solid and whisper-quiet. Smart design features like fuel tank access on both sides of the coach. The list goes on and on.

Technology Features

Always the leader in technological innovation, Liberty has moved decisively into modern coach technologies without sacrificing usability. The cockpit has been re-engineered for Prevost's 9660 chassis with Prevost e-mirrors and Liberty's own blind spot detection system, plus a 360-degree bird's-eye camera for confident maneuvering. A 58-volt lithium-ion energy system replaces conventional batteries with something far lighter, smaller, and more powerful.

Inside, a Crestron C4 processor—the latest from the industry control leader that Liberty brought to the Prevost sector in 2002—drives iPad Pro touchscreen interfaces throughout the coach for fingertip control of virtually every system and component. Liberty also offers JOSH.AI—the industry's first serious "smart coach" solution for truly customized voice-activated control. Below the coach, Liberty's exclusive lower bay E-Center provides outdoor entertainment with an oversized LED TV, KEF speakers, and a refrigerator—because the best rallies happen outside.

The Numbers

Liberty doesn't publish pricing, and they'll tell you why: every coach is genuinely custom. They start with your preferences and build from there, rather than offering packages with upgrade options. This makes comparison shopping difficult, which filters for buyers who value the process over the transaction.

What we can tell you: every Liberty Coach is built on the Prevost H3-45 chassis, available in 2, 3, or 4 slide configurations with split bath or bath-and-a-half bath layouts. Their volume is deliberately limited—they'd rather turn down orders than compromise build quality by rushing. The production process is extraordinarily meticulous, so if you're planning to order, be patient. Like fine wine, perfection can't be rushed.

The Relationship

When you buy a Liberty, you're not just getting a coach—you're getting a family that stands behind it for the long haul. The Konigseders know their owners by name, remember what you specified, and care about your experience years after delivery. That's not a sales pitch; it's what happens when a company answers to family reputation rather than quarterly earnings.

The relationship doesn't end at delivery. Liberty's Stuart, Florida facility sits right in the snowbird corridor, so owners heading south for winter can schedule service on the way down and continue to the Keys knowing everything is sorted. Call with a question from a campground in Montana and you'll likely reach someone who worked on your build. That continuity—knowing your coach's history, what's been modified, what to watch for—is something no dealership network can replicate.

Three generations, over 900 coaches, and a repeat-buyer rate that speaks for itself. Liberty doesn't scale because it doesn't need to. The owners who choose them aren't looking for volume production. They're looking for people who'll spend the extra time to get it right rather than ship something that's "good enough."

What Owners Say

"

They just make a wonderful coach. The quality they put into it…that's what makes a Liberty a Liberty. Nothing else even comes close.

Cheryl and Keith Waid
"

I was very happy with the coach we were in, until I went into a Liberty Coach. I mean just everything…I can't say enough. Once you experience one there's no going back.
